Post-Diagnosis Autism Workshop

Welcome!

Welcome to the Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder workshop for parents and carers of young people who recently received a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Below, you will find a collection of videos* recorded by a selection of our Psychologists and Speech and Language Therapists, as well as links to recommended resources. We intend to:

  • Give an overview of autism

  • Help you consider how being autistic might impact your young person

  • Help you consider how to see the world through your child’s eyes

  • Provide suggestions of strategies, further resources and services which you may find useful

We recommend watching all videos listed on this page. It will be helpful to watch the videos in the order they are presented however, you may wish to revisit specific videos or work through them at your own pace.

Once you have completed the videos, we would highly appreciate a few moments of your time to complete our feedback questionnaire to inform us of what aspects you enjoyed, found useful, or any suggestions for improvement.

*Please note, these videos were recorded in 2020, and we are aware that some of the language and concepts used have now moved on. We aim to take a neuro-affirming approach in our work however, our videos will take longer to update.
